Anyway, the author of this article goes on to say that butter is delicious, which it is to be fair.


Why?

We needed a body font for a website with pre-established brand typography. I did not want to use a font from a creator with a despicable history (look it up), so we created a brand new typeface based on similar ideas.

Instead of starting from scratch, we based Murphy Sans on the libre font Biryani by Dan Reynolds & Mathieu Réguer.

We chose this font largely because the latin charset ran in just about the correct width we needed for the website, and it had a delightfully high x-height, which made it super easy and a joy to read.


And most importantly for you, that means that the font remains licensed under the SIL Open Font License, and is therefore completely free!
